The Dunedin Writers and Readers Festival, Dunedin’s biennial celebration for readers, writers, and thinkers, is seeking a new director for a full-time, 16-month contract position in Dunedin.

The Festival is a vibrant boutique programme of storytelling, conversation, and live performance, a long weekend of immersion in the pleasure of the written word and examining ideas.

The Festival Director -  you - will provide the Festival’s artistic vision and curatorial leadership, and is responsible for initiating, developing, and delivering the programme; nurturing and developing sponsorship and other relationships; and maintaining a healthy financial position.

You revel in literature, writing, and ideas, and are excited at the prospect of bending your strategic and imaginative thinking to creating extraordinary audience experiences. You’re a leader and a collaborator, and community is important to you, as are relationships.

Write to us and tell us why this role is the next step on your career path.
