Dunedin is an amazing place to live and work, and if you were to ask anyone living here, they’ll tell you that there’s something indescribably special about our city. It’s small enough to feel like you’re part of a community, but big enough to ensure that there’s always something going on. From the great outdoors to arts, culture and education, Dunedin has so much to offer, so why not come and feel just how special it is?

Our long serving Operations Manager is retiring, and we are now looking for an experienced senior leader to take on this key role with responsibilities across Lan Yuan Dunedin Chinese Garden, Toitū Otago Settlers Museum, and the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.

Theses much loved and iconic institutions contribute to Dunedin’s status as a creative city with a rich and vibrant cultural landscape.

Reporting to the Director – Museums and Gallery, you will have overall responsibility for front of house operations, administration, health and safety and security across the three institutions. In addition, you will work collaboratively with other DCC departments to manage property and service contracts. With a team of several direct reports, you will also have overall responsibility for the management of the Visitor Host team across the three institutions. You will be expected to work collaboratively with other members of the leadership team to achieve our strategic outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will have experience in an operational or team management role, preferably within a cultural institution. You will be a charismatic leader, systematic in your approach and politically astute. You will also have a good practical understanding of how health and safety legislation applies to our wide-ranging operation.
