Youth Arts New Zealand is a creative social enterprise developing the next generation of creative New Zealanders. We connect, showcase and develop young creatives through strategic partnerships and collaborations, within the creative sector and beyond. Formed in 2017 and registered as a Charitable Trust in 2018, our vision is for an interconnected, resilient and equitable youth creative sector in Aotearoa.

We are launching into an exciting strategic period, with the launch of our new strategy and projects by the end of Q2. As part of this new strategy, we are recruiting a Board of Trustees to ensure strong governance for our organisation.

Trustees sought

We are very interested in hearing from people who:

  • Are interested and/or experienced in youth creativity and development
  • Are well-connected and have a strong personal/professional network

In particular, we seek expertise in the following areas:

  • Youth Development / Education
  • Governance
  • Partnerships / Business Leadership
  • Marketing / PR
  • Funding / Sponsorship
  • Legal
  • Finance / Accounting

Experience on boards is preferred but not mandatory. Most importantly, we are searching for board members that are willing to drive Youth Arts NZ’s strategy, and will bring fresh perspectives and diverse experience to the board.

At Youth Arts NZ, we are committed to diversity and inclusion within our team culture and operations. Therefore, we are actively encouraging applicants from a range of backgrounds to join our board, to form a robust and diverse governance team.

Other details

This is the first stage of board renewal. We are aiming to appoint 5-7 trustees in this phase, to replace the 3 current board members who will move to solely management roles. Appointment terms are for two years in the first instance.  This is not a remunerated position, but will be a fulfilling opportunity to make a difference to a small, impactful organisation.

Time Commitment

2-hour board meetings bi-monthly, plus an estimated 5 hours per month to support the Youth Arts NZ operations team.

How to apply

We would love to talk to you if you are interested in joining our Board.
