A group art exhibition hosted by The Arts Village

Brief:

‘Self [isolation] portraits’ is a portrait exhibition that showcases the artists’ self portraits while in isolation. This community exhibition has a koha entry fee.

Please read everything carefully to ensure that you are fully informed when preparing and delivering work for the show.

Artists must submit a short artist bio (maximum of 200 words). These will be displayed in the exhibition.

Important Note: Due to the imposed lockdown and public health safety precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we do not have set dates for the exhibition yet. At this stage, the call out is to introduce the show concept and guidelines, and gather contact details of artists who would like to participate in the show.

There is a F.A.Q Live Info Session being held for artists at 3pm on Sunday 24th May, to attend you must register online at: https://www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/self-isolation-portraits-group-show-faq-info-session-tickets-104907749904

Artists:

  • Open to artists who have a connection to Rotorua

  • Artists can submit up to three works.

  • Give permission for entered works to be photographed and used for promotional purposes, including online.

Note: There is a possibility of a virtual exhibition component to this show where works are exhibited in an online format.

Eligibility:

This is a self-portrait exhibition.

All participating artists must guarantee that all submitted work:

  • Is an interpretation of the show title ‘self [isolation] portraits’. If you are unsure if your work will be suitable for this exhibition, please contact our team at activities@theartsvillage.org.nz

  • Is content and work that they have ownership of, and do not infringe upon New Zealand copyright laws, or appropriate cultures.

  • Is the sole work of the artist entering (unless it is listed as a collaboration, in which case all contributing artists must be named).

  • Has not previously been exhibited in an exhibition, in a virtual or physical format.

  • Staff and Trustee members of Rotorua Arts Village Trust (provided they meet other criteria) are eligible to submit but are not eligible to receive awards and/ or prizes (where applicable).
