Production and Facilities Manager. Creative Industries

Do you have expertise in the area of Production Management? Are you a creative thinker who is passionate about live productions, events, exhibitions, and screen activities?

The School of Creative Industries uses a combination of hands-on, real-world learning and theory that will enable our learners to prepare for a career in a range of different creative areas, including acting, art and design, contemporary dance, graphic design and animation, screen arts, photography, and visual arts.

The position

We are looking for a Production and Facilities Manager to join our School of Creative Industries team!

As our Production and Facilities Manager, you will oversee and manage our productions, events, and activities for the performing and screen arts, and design and contemporary arts programmes. You will work with academic and support teams to ensure that you manage public-facing and in-house productions and events, while being across all related budgets, resources, facilities in alignment with upholding the Unitec Health and Safety guidelines.

The Production and Facilities Manager will support the leadership team with the management and delivery of production, event, facilities, and specific tasks and projects where necessary. You will effectively lead a team of allied and technical staff while supporting Creative Industries teaching teams to provide high-quality educational outcomes for the School of Creative Industries learners and our key partners.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in the Creative Industries Sector as a Production Manager / Technical Manager or comparable role managing public facing productions, exhibitions, events, and screen activities where management of teams, multiple projects, deadlines, and budgets can be evidenced
  • Experienced with Health and Safety management, compliance, and legislation
  • A creative professional with a strong technical mind, including a passion for the technical requirements of live productions, events, exhibitions, and screen activities
  • Experienced people leader with a values-driven and solutions focused approach
  • Experience in scoping up and developing fit-for-purpose facilities in the Creative Industries sector

Desirable

  • Experience across multiple creative practice disciplines
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in one or more discipline of the Creative Sector
  • Proven ability to connect with and contribute to the development and education of young people
  • Experience with managing and/or mentoring an inexperienced / student team
