As Whakatane District Council's Curator Exhibitions - Kaiwhakarite Whakaaturanga Taonga, you will be responsible for researching, developing and implementing a dynamic range of exhibitions, visitor experiences and public programmes aimed at engaging and inspiring new and diverse audiences.
The Curator Exhibitions will curate shows, work with artists from diverse backgrounds and work with all the iwi in the Whakatane District. You will establish, foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, funders, cultural institutions and community organisations. You will help to develop and grow the Lifelong Learning brand of Te Koputu a te Whanga a Toi - Whakatane Library and Exhibition Centre, as well as enhancing visitor numbers and local, regional and national awareness of the facilities and services. Additionally, you will provide outstanding customer service for both internal and external customers by receiving and responding to all exhibition or gallery activities, and developing promotional material including production, distribution and electronic communications to grow visitor numbers.

This permanent full-time position is an opportunity for an emerging curator who would like to grow and develop in this field. We are seeking someone willing to work five days per week, with some weekend work as required to support exhibition programmes and openings.
