The Whangārei Art Museum Te Manawa Toi is the public art gallery of the Whangārei District, and custodians of its art collection and public art works in the city.
Whangārei Art Museum is the home of visual arts in Northland.
As a Gallery Technician, you will be involved with all aspects of exhibition installation, including painting walls and hanging artworks. The job will also involve assisting with the packing, transport and storage of loaned and collection-based works of art. Building experience and/or an understanding of audio/visual technologies would be an added advantage.
All tasks are undertaken in line with preventative conservation procedures, insurance requirements, international museum standards, and health and safety practices. Training will be given to the right applicant.

This is a 12-month fixed-term casual position (approximately 12 x 40-hour weeks), required when we change over exhibitions. The position could potentially be split into two positions. The exhibition schedule is planned over a year in advance.
