The CCP Curator role is a key artistic position, and functions as a leadership role within Melbourne’s cultural sector. The incumbent will work closely with the CCP Director and the CCP Team to further the depth, breadth, and quality of CCP’s exhibition and artist led engagement programs.
The Curator will lead the curatorial development and implementation of an exceptional program of exhibitions and experiences at CCP, and in appropriate external contexts. You will develop meaningful exhibition narratives and content, which may be generated from; the Gallery’s Expressions of Interest process, which you will manage, in-house, co-developed with sector peers or toured from other venues. The CCP Curator will also oversee travelling exhibitions to other venues.
You will have extensive curatorial experience in the development, management and execution of significant exhibitions, audience engagement programs and publications within a public gallery.
Reporting to the CCP Director, the CCP Curator will also work closely with the CCP Team to grow new audiences and deliver great visual arts experiences. The position will demonstrate leadership in achieving the organisation’s strategic objectives; will be a positive and proactive advocate for the organisation within the sector and with key stakeholders; will exercise fiscal responsibility in the management of project budgets and sourcing of funds through grants, sponsorship, and philanthropic avenues; and will routinely measure and report performance against stated goals as part of a commitment to continual improvement.
