The Warren is a community workshop and store on Cross Street, behind Karangahape in central Auckland. We have a fully equipped workshop with machines, power and hand tools, safety gear and workbenches. We offer wood working classes, in a collaborative, supportive environment welcome beginners and experts. Our role is to facilitate the sharing of skills from teachers to beginners.

We are seeking designers, makers, wood workers, creatives to teach classes of their own design. We currently run classes that teach the basics of woodworking, more advanced fine woodworking skills, wood carving, DIY basics and some non-wood classes, like wreath-making.

Classes can be taught over one morning or afternoon, or taught over a few weeks. Classes can be skills-based (how to use a drill, for example) or focused on making an object or piece of furniture. We are very open to classes that are outside of the box. We will work with you to develop the class structure, so you don’t need to be a trained teacher, just a good communicator with an interest in helping others learn new skills.

How to apply

If you are interested, please email Tim Boyd at with a little about your background, and your idea(s) for a class.
