Senior Setup Producer - The AM Show

Are you an experienced journalist, with the ability to identify news stories that New Zealanders really care about?  Do you want to help shape the direction and agenda of a ground breaking news programme? Or maybe just love morning TV, but can't handle the early starts?
The AM Show - the country's only truly multi-platform news show - needs a new Set Up Producer.The successful candidate will be a motivated self starter with strong news judgement and will be able to predict where a story is likely to go next.  The AM Show is a fun, hard-working and dedicated team that sets high standards and values creativeness and individual thinking.
  • Work in the afternoon and evening to identify stories and content for the show to cover
  • Set up interviews for the next day's show, including sourcing, pre-interviewing and booking guests
  • Deliver end to end booking of elements required for a segment. e.g. camera crews/live link facilities/make-up, etc.
  • Produce accurate and concise background and research notes for presenters and morning staff
  • Cut b-roll overlay to help illustrate segments during interviews
  • Assist in maintaining the show calendar and news diary
  • Work with the senior production team and presenters to confirm the lineup for the next day.
  • Experience as a news and current affairs content producer
  • Understanding of news media in both radio and TV
  • Ability to use iNews, Avid UX, and the Google cloud-based services (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, etc.)
  • Strong editorial judgement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Thorough contact list across a broad range of topics
  • Good understanding of the requirements of the Broadcasting Act and the laws relating to libel and defamation, and the invasion of privacy and other related legal matters.
