Remuneration:          Hourly rate $ 30.73 per hour        

                                    Annual Salary $ 60,715

Pro rata full time equivalent per annum $ 55,928 (Based on a 35 hr week)

(superannuation of 9.5%)

M16 Background

M16 is excited to be putting a call out for the role of Exhibitions and Promotions Coordinator. It is an extremely creative role in a fast paced environment where you will get to work with emerging and established artists and be surrounded by new ideas throughout each year! M16 Artspace houses 27 studios, three galleries and five community workspaces. The ACT government, through the ACT Arts Fund, in part supports our exhibition program and outside of that at the operation is self- funded.

M16’s goals are to:

Exhibitions and Promotions Coordinator Duty Statement

The Exhibitions and Promotions Coordinatorcurates M16’s exhibition program from applications and formulates its marketing and audience engagement strategies. Directly reporting to the M16 Executive Director, the Exhibitions and Promotions Coordinator is based at M16 Artspace, Griffith, ACT and is responsible for the following duties:

  • Coordinate exhibition application rounds
  • Schedule diverse and engaging exhibition programs
  • Liaise with potential and current exhibitors
  • Oversee installation and demount of exhibitions
  • Coordinate exhibition openings and other gallery-related events
  • Supervise gallery volunteers and interns
  • Liaise with collectors regarding the sale of works of art and promote sales of artwork
  • Maintain M16 exhibition records and archives
  • Coordinate regular gallery promotion, including design, printing and e-mail-out of invitations, press releases, free listings and other promotional material

Incorporated into the role is a marketing and admin function which includes the following tasks:

  • Update and maintain M16 Artspace website in all sections
  • Produce and send out mail chimp invite for exhibitions
  • Compile, update and maintain M16 Artspace media databases
  • Update, maintain and produce content for M16 Artspace social media platforms
  • Take photographs for M16 Artspace social media platforms
  • Work on target marketing campaigns
  • POC for gallery visitors/ answer phone calls
  • Participate in staff meetings
  • Organise sales on opening nights
  • Manage membership register for M16’s Member and Friends
  • Produce and distribute monthly Inside/ Out (tenant e-newsletter)
  • Managing databases and lease procedures for incoming and outgoing studio tenants
  • Manage sold works in stock room
  • Other tasks as directed
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and quality in programming, installation and promotion
  • Maintain and expand M16’s diverse audience
  • Provide appropriate professional advice and support to M16 artists
  • Contribute relevant material to regular Board reports, annual reports, and grant acquittals

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating an exhibition program
  • Experience in developing and implementing marketing strategies
  • Experience in writing and editing exhibition/project descriptions
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Desirable-Experience in basic graphic design (Indesign/Photoshop)
