Marketing & Sponsorship Manager
We are looking for a Marketing and Sponsorship Manager to join our powerhouse team at the New Zealand Comedy Trust and help present a kick ass NZ Intl. Comedy Festival in 2021. You will be responsible for marketing, sponsorship, and communications management of the Festival, alongside other Trust activities. You will have a passion and vision for elevating comedy in Aotearoa as a celebrated and integral feature of the arts sector. The role is to be a champion and a challenger, creating opportunities to develop, promote and grow a sustainable and diverse comedy industry celebrating the many voices representing Aotearoa.
This role will be focused on showcasing the New Zealand Comedy Trust and NZ International Comedy Festival brand through design, marketing and publicity. You will have crack-up copywriting skills, a keen eye for design and be a pro in the digital marketing space with deep passion for crunching the numbers from your campaigns. You’ll also be able to get awesome, engaging content made, on time and on budget. The lead up to Festival can be a wild ride, so you will be organised and able to juggle a number of different priorities – you’ll also be agile enough to reprioritise at short notice when things evolve. Experience in arts and events marketing is highly desirable.
We reckon we’ve got some of the best sponsors around, and our relationships with them are very important to us. You will use your excellent communication skills to determine exactly what our sponsors are after, and deploy your creativity to deliver on those goals. We’re always looking for new partners, and you’ll use your initiative to seek out new sponsorship opportunities and build ongoing relationships that support the Trust’s activity.
Alongside your professional role, you will be contributing as part of the management team of the Trust. You will help lead your team through motivating and empowering others, coaching and mentoring constructively to achieve facilitation of this. You will be providing direction under uncertainty, championing new ideas, role modelling, demonstrating high ethical standards, and fairness and consistency among peers, colleagues and direct reports. Your direct reports will include a Marketing & Sponsorship Coordinator, a designer and an external publicist.
We believe the New Zealand Comedy Trust is a great place to work. We have a culture of working together and collaboration and see ourselves as connectors. Our team places huge importance on manaakitanga, are always up for the challenge, and work with good humour. The Trust prioritises the wellbeing of our team and has initiatives to support you to thrive in this environment. Our people nurture the development of strong and dynamic comedy voices across Aotearoa and help showcase them to the world. Our driver is creating a safe place to be brave! You’ll always have the big picture in mind and be able deliver on your targets while supporting your team mates. A good understanding of NZ's growing comedy industry (and wider arts ecosystem) would be an advantage.
This is a senior position, so we are looking for somebody with a minimum of 5 years industry experience in marketing and or sponsorship.
This is a 6 month fixed-term role to deliver the 2021 NZ International Comedy Festival and Trust objectives, but we are open to looking at a permanent position for the right person.
