Producer: Tim Bray Theatre Company, administered by The Operating Theatre Trust.
Director: Tim Bray, QSM
6 actors required – 4 actors for the show plus 2 alternate cast members (understudies) who will perform in at least one show for each alternate role.
The alternate cast members will be close to the production through the entire season filling the roles of Audience Host (who is a liaison to school groups and the public) and makes a brief welcome to the audience) and Head Usher. As well as learning two roles Both also learn the Stage Manager duties as a back up.
Period required:
Just over 10 weeks
Thursday 18 March – Saturday 29 May, 2021
NB We are also looking for a real dog who can appear at the end of the show in an illusion. The dog will need to be happy to sit inside a closed box for a short period and then emerge from the box and run around the stage with the actor playing the boy, David. If you are an actor with a dog who could perform in the show, please let us know as we’d love to meet your dog as part of the audition.
David: Young and small adult actor to convincingly play a boy aged about eight. Able to sing. N.B. We aren’t looking for children.
Mum: David's mother aged 30s-40s. Able to sing. The role would suit a wheelchair user, person of limited mobility, someone who is blind/visually impaired, or a person who is hard of hearing. The role is adaptable to suit access needs so please get in touch to discuss your accessibility requirements (please note that there are some limitations in the built environment which we will discuss with you).
Lion / Dog or Lion & Fish and Chips (M): Adult actor to play the lion in the meadow and also the dog at the end of Leaf Magic. If we manage to ideally find a real dog (hopefully with a cast member with a dog) for Leaf Magic the role would be Lion and perhaps also the character Fish and Chips, who is a man who lives by the sea. Face makeup required.
Witch (M/F) or Witch & Fish and Chips (M/F): Actor or actress to play the witch in the cherry tree. The role could also include that of Fish and Chips (man who lives by the sea). Able to sing.
