Craft Victoria seeks an effective, inclusive, values driven and entrepreneurial leader who can set and fulfill a dynamic and expansive agenda for Craft while also comfortably dealing with strategic, creative, financial, business and organisational issues. The role is responsible for ensuring Craft’s business model supports the organisation’s long-term financial sustainability and artistic objectives to foster the careers of emerging to established makers. The successful applicant will have strong stakeholder management and fundraising skills and ideally have experience working with key funding bodies such as Australia Council, Creative Victoria and the City of Melbourne. The successful applicant will have excellent written and verbal skills and audience awareness and be able to advocate on behalf of the sector and Craft.
Selection Criteria
A proven record of achievement at a senior level in the visual arts. A tertiary degree or equivalent is desirable.
The successful candidate will have:
• Proven experience in successfully managing an organisation, including creative leadership, business development, strategic planning and budget accountability
• Strong business acumen and demonstrated understanding of, and ability to strategically lead, financial and operational management
• Demonstrated creative and commercial acumen with an ability to develop, discuss and deliver strategic and annual business plans
• An entrepreneurial approach to the development of Craft
• A sound understanding of the visual arts industries and the experience to identify, develop and maintain business relationships in the sector and beyond
• Proven experience in sponsorship and fundraising and the ability to identify and submit successful grant applications
• Sound stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both within the organisation and with key external individuals and organisations
• People management experience demonstrating a capacity to inspire, empower and motivate staff in a collegial, inclusive and team-based environment
• Strong and effective interpersonal skills
• Marketing, media and communication prowess and the ability to raise Craft’s profile both locally and nationally
