Hamilton is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and Hamilton City Council is investing in and enabling the opportunities this presents with its biggest-ever capital works programme. Hamilton City Council’s 10-Year Plan lays out a vision to develop world class community infrastructure, supporting the development of healthy and thriving communities. The Museum is integral to a thriving and fun community!
Waikato Museum's exhibitions, events and programmes tell stories from a regional and global perspective, and include visual art, social history, tangata whenua and science from touring exhibitions, and the museum’s own collections. Waikato Museum's 13 galleries and the galleries in the historic ArtsPost building regularly feature new and inspiring exhibitions and public events. Through this interactive programme Waikato Museum engages and inspires local and international visitors.
As Visitor Experience Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the best possible experience for visitors is developed and delivered. This is a key position that fosters positive, best practice, front-of-house services, and experiences, that grow audiences, visitation loyalty and satisfaction with the Museum.
On a day-to-day basis you will provide direction and support to the team for daily operations with a focus on creating a welcoming, engaging, and fun experience for those who visit! As the Museum operates 7 days per week, you’ll need to be visible, flexible, and available to your team on rotating rosters.
The creative side of you will enjoy the identification and development of new services and products along with working collaboratively with other teams at the Museum to be a key destination in the Waikato!
We’re looking for an empowering leader who may have come from the tourism, customer services, creative or event management sectors. You will be able to lead and inspire a front-of-house team to deliver high quality and engaging customer services – all with a smile on your face! If you have a strong knowledge of Tikanga and Te Ao Maori that would be helpful. We’re looking for candidates who are great communicators, exude professionalism and are willing to go the extra mile to help visitors and the wider Museum team.
