Auckland Council is calling for proposals from creative groups, collectives or individuals interested in exhibiting or developing a unique offering for our 2022 exhibition programme, to take place in one of the city’s local arts facilities: Franklin Arts Centre (Pukekohe), Fresh Gallery ŌtaraMāngere Arts Centre – Ngā Tohu o Uenuku, Nathan Homestead Pukepuke (Manurewa) and Papakura Art Gallery

We welcome creative projects, whether it’s an exhibition, installation, event, or activity, across a range of artistic forms. You might be an established painter, graphic designer, digital artist, sculptor, installation artist, photographer, jeweller, sound artist, fashion designer, musician, or writer. You might be a student or a creative practitioner who has completed works you think are ready to be shared with the public or you may be from a community group or organisation that has a creative programme you are looking to launch.

We are looking for creative projects, which achieve the following:

  • will be ready to take place between 1 January and 30 June 2022
  • are suitable for one of the arts facilities listed above
  • explore places, people and themes relevant to the community where the art facility is located
  • are well-developed unique concepts
  • by creative groups, collectives or individuals from the respective local board area for each art facility (i.e. Franklin, Manurewa) and from wider Auckland
  • celebrate Māori culture and support te reo Māori
  • reflect mana whenua mātauranga.

Auckland Council recognises te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi as a foundational document on which local government in Auckland works to deliver Māori aspirations. We recognise that Auckland’s Māori identity is its unique point of difference in the world and celebrate Māori culture and te reo Māori. We seek to build on this identity in our Arts Facilities.
