Working closely with the Chief Executive, they will ensure that community engagement and artistic activity aligns with CMNZ’s strategic artistic priorities, resulting in high quality engagement with a broad range of communities throughout New Zealand.

Chamber Music New Zealand (founded 1950) is a national agency that tours New Zealand and international musicians, presenting 120 concerts in over 30 towns and cities throughout the country each year. The concert programme incorporates a range of musical styles including classical, jazz, folk and contemporary genres.
CMNZ has a dynamic community engagement programme that sees musicians working alongside a wide range of different groups and communities including people with lived experience of disability, at risk youth as well as those in geographically isolated regions. The community engagement programme also includes the NZCT Chamber Music Contest for secondary school students, New Zealand’s longest running school-based music event.
CMNZ is now embarking on an exciting period of re-invention, diversifying their role in response to the unique qualities of Aotearoa New Zealand today. Our artistic and community engagement programmes are central to how we will connect with communities across the country and ensure that as many people as possible can actively participate in live, music-based experiences.
