About us

Mind Over Manner is a charity organisation that presents public workshops to foster social change through theatre. Using our unique workshop format, we work with theatre practitioners and performers to generate fast-tracked learning for our audiences. Through our Neurodiversity and Witness programs, we aim to strengthen communication and connection with teenagers who think, learn and work differently.

We are currently looking for a short-term contract Producer to help us deliver our two core programs: our Neurodiversity workshops, and the final stage of our Witness program in schools.

What will you be doing?

The Producer will work as part of the core team as the coordinator and administrator of our two programs (Neurodiversity and Witness), with a focus on setting up our Neurodiversity workshop series in early 2022. This role handles all things related to a project’s allocated budget; schedules and other logistics; is the point of contact for all external relationships regarding the workshop delivery, and deals with all Mind Over Manner contractors. The purpose of the role is to handle all behind the scenes logistical and administrative mahi that enables our workshops to take place,

Note that while this is a fixed-term contract, there is an option to extend this into a permanent full-time role.

We are looking for someone who is able to hit the ground running. Important qualities for us are:

  • Strong organisational and management competencies

  • Ability to work fast & manage time effectively

  • Clear & calm communication under pressure

  • Comfortable with managing finances and working with budgets

Desired / Could grow into:

  • An interest in (or openness to) understanding Neurodiversity & the kaupapa of the organisation

  • Willingness to participate in hui around collective working culture and Te Ao Maori frameworks for collaboration

  • Appreciates the value of creative processes and working live with an audience - recognises the “big picture” that our mahi is working toward.

The finer details:

This is a three-month fixed-term contract. The role is paid at $30.00 per hour.

The role is for 30 hours per week for a duration of three months (17 Jan — 15 April), with an option for renewal.

The 30 hours will ideally be completed in the office at Corbans Estate Arts Centre across Monday - Thursday alongside the Creative Director and the Company Manager. NB: Some or all of these hours may be completed working from home, depending on Covid restrictions.

We also intend to hold a (paid) 2-day training and orientation for the Producer role on December 9th and 10th, however this is also alert-level dependent.

How to apply

Please email a CV and short cover letter outlining your suitability for the role to Sue Haldane (Creative Director) at sue@mindovermanner.co.nz by 12pm Wednesday December 1st.
