Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū is looking for an outstanding Exhibitions Designer to work within our Exhibitions and Collections team. You will work on Gallery exhibitions, displays and artist projects from the initial design stage right through to installation and project completion. You will work closely with curators, artists and project team members to seek innovative and engaging ways of presenting art for our audiences. You will be able to demonstrate a strong aesthetic style, an eye for detail and exceptionally good practical skills in regard to art handling, installation and construction.
To tackle this exciting role you will be a team player with excellent communication skills. Ideally you will have arts/design experience in a museum, art gallery, and theatre production or construction environment. You will have working knowledge of current design software and experience with audio visual and multi-media technology, especially data projection, sound and other digital applications. You will demonstrate superior problem solving skills as well as a broad range of creativity, innovation and technical expertise.
