Fundraising Manager

Founded in 1946, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra is the country’s leading professional orchestra.

Reporting to the Head of Development, the Fundraising Manager will contribute to the development and implementation of effective and relevant fundraising strategies. The successful candidate will steward NZSO supporters throughout the donor cycle to achieve the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra’s fundraising objectives.

Based in either Wellington or Auckland, this is a pivotal role where you will be working with a wide variety of interesting, talented and highly committed professionals and supporters.

Key accountabilities include developing, communicating and implementing the Annual Fundraising Activity Plan, reviewing and reporting on progress/effectiveness and ensuring best practice is maintained. Most importantly, there is accountability for increasing fundraising income through personal giving to the NZSO. The role also involves a large amount of campaign management and brand management.

Person Profile:

  • A successful track record of performance in all practical and strategic planning aspects of fundraising, especially in making the ask
  • Proven ability to raise funds from individual supporters, personal trusts and estates
  • Experienced in the development of planned giving programmes
  • Skilled with CRM /fundraising databases and office software
  • Successful in designing and executing effective direct mail campaigns
  • Understanding of and a strong empathy with the Arts sectors
  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Fundraising or similar is highly advantageous
