Calling all puppeteers and puppet makers
Job details
Throughout history and across all societies puppets have been a valued form of artistic expression. A puppet can be any odd inanimate object that comes to life by the hand and ideas of the puppeteer. The audience enters a magical world in which differences between generations and diverse cultures are effortlessly bridged. The Estuary Arts Centre in Orewa is dedicating the entire month of July 2014 to all things puppetry. The aim of puppet month is to engage the audience with the incredible creative world of puppetry by offering workshops to explore various aspects of the art as well as giving established artists the space to present their work. The focus is on inclusiveness of all cultures and ages. The month is divided into distinctive modules: Puppet making, Story telling, Performing and Stop motion animation. Each of these modules has a hands-on and theoretical aspect.
