Hutt Valley Community Arts is an open and responsive organisation covering all arts genre, discovering and promoting creative potential throughout the Hutt community. We focus on facilitating, challenging, stimulating and nurturing individuals and audiences serving and strengthening cultural identity, community well-being and Turangawaewae.
We run a much loved community art space situated in the heart of Petone, workshops, talks, and training for artists of all genres. We operate throughout the Hutt Valley and work with our diverse communities through focussed projects. This year those have included drumming workshops, childrens art making sessions, exhibitions, street theatre, Playback theatre and much more!
We offer mentoring, project management and facilitation for arts projects, and work with creative people to help make their ideas reality.
HVCA has two part time employed staff, Catherine green, Office Manager, and Sian Torrington, Arts Facilitator. We also have lots of wonderful people who wish to volunteer for us, but we need your help to manage the help offerred! We are looking for a person with great people skills who is willing to recruit, interview and look after volunteers for specific projects. Staff will provide descriptions of what we are looking for and tend to need specific skills to make projects a success. Part of the role is team building within the volunteer team, staying in touch with everyone and making it an exciting vibrant place for volunteers. Our admin ace Catherine can take care of the ticking boxes, but we need you to bring your flair, vision and people skills.
This role is approximately five hours a week or ten hours a fortnight.
