Tauranga Art Gallery is seeking a proactive, enthusiastic and innovative individual to co-ordinate exhibition registration services. You will be responsible for preparing loan documentation and condition reports for artworks exhibited at the Gallery, and assisting national and international freight arrangements.
As Registrar, you will also work closely with the Art Gallery Director and Exhibitions Team developing and maintaining systems for receiving, recording and handling of artworks, to protect and to enhance access to items.
The successful applicant will have: • Experience in assisting with collecting and returning artworks required for exhibitions • Experience in maintaining accurate documentation of the collection and loaned works including accessioning, cataloguing and maintaining an accurate database • Knowledge in ensuring correct packing and handling of art works to be transported • Experience in assisting with handling exhibition loans and condition reports • Experience in the delivery of exhibitions in an art gallery/museum (essential) • Ability to assist the Art Gallery Director, Exhibitions Manager and other staff as required (ie: physically handling artworks during exhibition installation and de-installation). • Knowledge of compliance laws (preferable) • The ability to manage resources efficiently • An understanding of Maori cultural values and protocol • Sound verbal and written communication including computer literacy • A high level of physical fitness and health • Pride in their honesty, integrity, reliability, and work ethics
