The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Business Services & Development Manager to lead the organisation’s financial management, operational systems, and business development initiatives.
This senior leadership role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the financial sustainability, governance integrity, and operational effectiveness of the organisation.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Tumu Whakarae | General Manager and Board of Trustees to support strategic planning, reporting, compliance, and organisational growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
- Prepare monthly management reports and Board reporting packs
- Oversee year-end financial statements and audit coordination
- Ensure compliance with Charities Commission, Companies Office and funding requirements
- Manage cashflow and funding accountability
Governance & Compliance
- Support the Board with financial insights and strategic advice
- Maintain robust internal controls and risk management frameworks
- Ensure compliance with funding agreements and regulatory obligations
Operational Leadership
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial systems
- Lead process improvement and digital transformation initiatives
- Manage external service providers and system integrations
Business & Strategic Development
- Contribute to funding strategy and sustainability planning
- Support development of long-term organisational strategy
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency
About You
You will be:
- CA/CPA qualified or equivalent experience
- Experienced in not-for-profit financial management
- Strong in governance reporting and Board engagement
- Confident leading systems and operational improvements
- Skilled in stakeholder communication
- Calm, resilient and solution-focused
Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and experience working within Māori-led environments will be highly regarded.
