Call for Artists: Sculpture in the Gardens 2026–27

Here’s your chance to create something unforgettable! Exhibit large-scale, site-specific works in a public setting enjoyed by over 350,000 visitors. Our milestone 10th exhibition transforms the gardens into a spectacular open-air gallery. Selected works will be displayed along a walking trail, creating an immersive outdoor exhibition.

We’re looking for bold, imaginative sculptures that connect with the landscape, spark curiosity, and celebrate the relationship between art and nature. Whether you’re an emerging artist or an established sculptor, this is your opportunity to be part of one of Aotearoa’s most loved outdoor art events.

Awards & Stipends:

Acquisition Award: a sculpture may be purchased for the Gardens’ permanent collection

Supreme Award: $10,000 cash prize

People’s Choice Award: $5,000 cash prize

Stipend: $3,000 per selected artist

Exhibition dates: 14 November 2026 – 28 February 2027
Submissions close: 11 February 2026
Who can apply: Any New Zealand sculptor (past exhibitors welcome!)
